K-15  French Fusil Fin type C

The French type C fusil was already in trade with the Indians by 1680. It was eventually replaced by the less elaborate type D around 1730.

The type C fusil fin, or fine fusil, featured high quality cast brass with engraving on the butt plate, tang, and trigger guard. It was imported at a ratio of about 1 in 20 at about twice the cost. This fine gun was much sought after as a gentleman’s fine fowler and often given as gifts of distinction to chiefs to seal trade agreements and treaties

The Fusil Ordinaire was less elaborate and more simply done.

The Sitting Fox French Type C is available in precision machine cut grade A walnut or maple. It is 95% completely inlet for the tapered octagon to round barrel, butt plate, trigger, trigger guard, side plate, thumb piece and thimbles.

The type C features a raised border carved around the trigger guard. This will save you a lot of work as the wood relief and castings on this French C are quite fancy. They are investment cast in brass or steel and are of the highest quality and clean up easily. They really capture the intricate engraving details found in the original.

The lock is also cast from an original but fitted with the most modern internals. American made and fully guaranteed it is top quality and throws a great spark. This produces a beautiful fine officers or gentleman’s French fowler.

The complete kit with all parts necessary to finish this fine gun are moderately priced at $799

Completely assembled “in the white” French C models are $1299

Fully finished $1399
